Why even debate using the direct encounters between the two? It's the most direct way of comparing the two characters in action and shows their consistent value in how they interact with each other's powers. What's the debunk to that bar "it's a bad thing and I don't like it"?
You can use direct encounters, but you are also supposed to take into account of other instances
It's secondary though. Don't really care about discussing those in comparison to what tangibly exists between the pair. Why speculate with what's not been shown with these two in action?

Why would I care about scant references when we already have multiple instances between the two that clearly show War Machine as the superior character? I don't really feel like there's any point in vague scaling when the answers have already been put to print.
