Gonna try and keep this short and sweet, don't think many people will see this but it will serve as a reference on the off chance anyone has been wondering (kinda sorta talked to/was friendly with a few people I guess).
About 5-6 months ago, I had a lot of pressure looming over my head thanks to circumstances outside of comicvine, and it broke me to a point where I left not only an open CAV but this website in general. I needed my time to myself and I just kind of went dark on this place. I'm feeling a bit better now, kinda.
As it stands I am coming back simply because I miss this place despite its and my problems. Chances are I'll be a bit more casual about things. I work full time, I have deadlines for other projects and serious responsibilities, I have a girlfriend, etc... so unless its something extremely tempting and fun, I wont be participating in any CAV's or Tourney's (I'll still read and vote in some).
I just don't have the time otherwise for the more nerd intensive activities on here. For now I just wanna create fun battle threads and argue in others on my own time.
April 1st is a long time away, but come that day I have this plan to kinda flood ComicVine with stupid but hectically legit battle threads, with the intention of giving people a bit to laugh at on that day. If you ever see the battles I post (again I'm 95% here for the battles section of the forum), you'd notice that's something I like to do. So as of now I've got a running list going, and if you happen to see this, then between now and April (wishful thinking on my part), go ahead and leave a suggestion or comment or whatever.
· Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way (My Immortal) vs Bella Cullen (Twilight)
Battle of the Mary Sues. I couldn’t another famous Mary Sue from another “famous fanfic,” (which no surprise, there are not a lot of them out there) so instead Bella works for now since she is widely considered a Mary Sue in popular fiction in general.
Calls for some ridiculous feats from typos. An example would be the fact that the author portrays a vampire only being able to be killed by a stake, but then spells it as steak (as in T-bone steak).
An additional joke could be that the Author of My Immortal gets author authority to change some cannon information about Twilight characters before the fight even starts.
· Dan Hibiki (Street Fighter) vs Arataka Reigen (Mob Pysicho 100)
Characters who make themselves out to be much more larger than life than they really are.
Hercule Vs Dan Hibiki has been done plenty of times before, don’t want to repeat it.
Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter is an interesting substitute for Dan Hibiki, though I don’t think his name would attract as many views in the subject line.
· Rocket Racoon (Marvel Comics) vs Chewbacca (Star Wars)
Fur covered characters with advanced technology? Also the root of a bunch of jokes in their franchises from fans?
Rocket might be a stomp? Unless EU feats included maybe…. I’m not sure.
· Kon (Bleach) vs Hawk (7 Deadly Sins)
Cute Mascot Battle. Possible to include/sub out Happy from Fairy Tail, or any others that might be suggested
· Meliodas (7 Deadly Sins) vs Jiraya (Naruto) vs Roshi (DBZ)
Anime has lots of pervs. These 3 are not the only option, but at least 2 of them might be close enough in power to make a fun/interesting fight… which will of course randomly take place at a hot spring. Because anime tropes...
· Kid Goku (DBZ) vs Haninozuka (Ouran Host Club)
Fits niche of a battle between cute kids that are secretly kind of dangerous.
Overly stereotyped gay characters sounds fun, though this battle might be a stomp.
Defiantly open to suggestions, doesn’t have to be an anime character. I feel like I can fit this theme in a more evenly matched way.
Battle idea as a whole might be borderline too offensive....
· Edward Elric (FMA) vs Neon Katt (RWBY)
Neon Katt is a character from RWBY who only has one really good showing of combat, but… she specializes in getting under peoples skins, and could probably figure out that Edwards berserk button, which is short jokes…. In case ya didn’t know I guess.
· Aslan (Narnia) vs Lion-O (Thundercats)
Because…. I was running out of ideas and wanted something to add some meat to this list.
· Light Yagami (Death Note) vs The loaf of bread that beat Bane on ComicVine
Can Light take a loaf of bread… and EAT IT!?!?!?! Laughed for the first few minutes of thinking of this but both are probably more tired out memes than Harambe at this rate…
· TFS Goku vs ???
DBZ abridged last I checked was up to Cell Saga. So essentially need to find a funny character from... I guess it still has to be an anime to follow the forum rules... that can handle Cell Saga Goku essentially.
Also has to be funny in some way…
· Micheal J. Caboose (RvB) vs ???
Derpy character from the web series Red vs Blue… with some actual half decent if not PIS related feats.
· Deadpool vs ???
Obvious choice for a fight involving comedy as the focus. Willing to guess that Deadpool has been put up against everyone from Uncle Ben to the Presence on Comic Vine at this rate though.
I don't really think there is anyone who will care much to read this (not that I'm offend don't get the wrong idea), but hear it goes.
All the recc3ent-ish CaVs and Tournaments I have participated in I've been unable to see through until the end. Life has been busy, and while I still may have time to post or reply a basic vs thread on Battles section (which let's be honest, is all I'm even on ComicVine for) I'm holding off on it.
I enjoy it, but I'm also and adult with adult responsibilities and well... crap sometimes that just takes priority over proving my favorite anime or comic character could win in a fight (to the degree that would be needed for a CaV).
