Public Domain's Most Wanted: Comic Book Super-Villains
This list is dedicated to comic book supervillains from both the Golden Age (1938 - 1956) and a little bit of the Silver Age (1956-1970) who have fallen into the public domain. You'd be surprised which PD villains have made the most appearances in modern comic books (from the 1980s to the present) and which ones that aren't BUT were a kinda a big deal. Also, some are listed as "Red Tape" for legal reasons despite certain public domain status (characters mainly from Fawcett Comics, Quality Comics - both are now incorporated into DC Comics - and MLJ Comics and Tower Comics - which were briefly owned by DC in 2009 to 2010).
