    ¹As part of Kochikame's 20th Anniversary a contest was held in which readers could suggest ideas for a chapter of the series. The selected winner was Ueda Kenji and this chapter was the result. Because it is a specially-produced chapter of the series, it was not collected with the mainline series but it did appear in Tokubecchūmon Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo that was released a week later (and included the fan-voted favorite chapters of the time). Notably, this chapter features the only appearance of Higurashi's brother. Also, the mainline chapter that did appear in this issue went on to become a fan-favorite itself in the next decade's fan-vote.

    ²Due to changing trends in the magazine's format around this time, this became one of the first serializations to receive a color page (but not a color chapter) for its final chapter. This would become common practice for suitably notable serializations in the following decades.
