Better film: Terminator 2: Judgement Day or Avengers: Infinity War?
T2. one of the best action movies in the history of the genre.
was just going to say that lol. infinity war is good, but t2 is one of the best action films ever made.
@johnbrief: no it doesn't, lolz. There are quite a few movies in the MCU I'd take over T2.
Infinity war was amazing and by far the best MCU movie of them all.
Terminator 2 is TIMELESS.
Regardless the gap in release dates and the cast of a-list actors AND the fact that time travel is not an uncommon trope in tv. For some reason, even knowing how it ends, T2 can still keep me captivated. Its gritty, suspenseful, and I think Arnold, when he was at his peak, coming back as a hero make it stand out.
Tough choice; one is a pretty generic action-comedy, the other is an absolute masterpiece that ranks among the best movies ever made. After careful consideration, I think I'm going with Terminator II.
T2. Infinity War is overrated IMO.
@michaelbn: Infinity War’s Titan fight is better than that.
And in general what makes a fight powerful is the character drama (which is why Captain America vs Ironman is so good even though it’s an underwhelming display of the characters powers.)
I did vote Infinity War but I am starting to come around to Terminator 2.
The thing that Infinity War is lacking in is essence and I feel that it’s not super polished.
Terminator’s “I know now why you cry. But it’s something I could never do.” is certainly a really strong line that the movie builds up to very well.
Though I am more interested in Infinity War’s storytelling. It’s a very strong script that takes advantage of how marvel movies are formulaic by subverting genre tropes (one example: the first two avengers movies were sit around until the 3rd act type of movies. So IW really throws us into the narrative, giving us an antagonist thats really pushing the story forward and pressing the character’s decision makings. Which is tied to the stories themes, implied early through Thanos’s monologue: “dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same”. It’s cool that it’s said by a No Country for Old Men actor. And in the end you have that moment where Thanos is just walking through everything Ironman is dishing out: https://youtu.be/VegKhno-BK8?si=20R9J0jK8CtW_0gD (1:03)) And one of the best opening scenes I have ever seen. And Thanos is such a great villain.
But Terminator 2 does have more of a classic quality to it as a whole. And Infinity War does feel more manufactured.
Hmm...
T2 might be the only movie that James Cameron has over any movie in the MCU. In all fairness, both films were made in two different time periods (nearly three decades apart from each other). Cameron had less to work with while the Russos had more to work with.
It's honestly difficult to say...
