Tales From The Tomb: Gwandanaland Comics --- The Classic Dell Giant Comic (1962)
84 pages
When the Comics Code entered the scene in the early 1950s, suddenly horror comics became sanitized, tame, lifeless (pardon the pun). For close to a decade they languished --- one could say they were not quite dead but certainly not alive. Then a resurgence began, a rebellion against the forces of censorship, a trend which saw horror comics regain their scary stature. This rebirth began with the horror comics of publisher like Dell Comics, with tight writing styles of masters like John Stanley, and spooky painted covers. The reader can see in these comics that death had not overtaken the horror comics – they had been merely sleeping and were awakened to frighten once again!
This issue is a reprint of Tales From the Tomb #1.
