... but I'd like to request an unmerging of two characters!

I've been updating the Tarzan book Marvel put out in the 70's, and I've noticed that the Marvel character Abdul Alhazred has been merged with the entry on the Lovecraft character of the same name. Whilst I can see how this mistake could occur (as well as having the same name, they have the same nickname!) but they are definitely two separate people; Lovecraft's Alhazred was a poet from around the time of the Byzantine Empire, whereas Marvel's Alhazred was an early-20th Century slaver. David Kraft used the moniker for his villain as a tribute to Lovecraft, nothing more.

If there is a new entry for Marvel's Abdul, then I would suggest adding a link to both entries, explaining that these two characters are connected in name only, in keeping with the site policy on such characters.

I've been reading quite a few comics from "The Big Two", and they seem to like the idea of having their respective creators and offices show up from time to time - from The Bullpen being hit by cosmic rays to Superboy Prime going to Earth Prime to scare the bejeezus out of Dan Didio, it seems this particular cliché still amuses people working in comics.

What I'm trying to get at, is why not reflect that in our vast database? We already have Smiling Stan and The King as characters, and they both worked for DC and Marvel at one time or another. Why not expand that a little further, and include every comic book writer and artist that's made an actual appearance in the pages? Obviously, we'll include disclaimers reminding people that there's a difference between the publishers and the teams, but I think it'd be a good idea.

As you may have guessed, I'm keen to spearhead this idea... but at the same time, if the higher-ups on this site think it'd be a waste of time, I'll politely withdraw the suggestion.

I too am getting frustrated at this particular function being disabled... I joined comicvine because it is the most well-coded comics wiki site around, but this error refutes such an idea!

I'm afraid I can't actually see if a character I search for is an answer or not.

That said, kudos for trying to get a reasonable number of people to guess!
