    Origin

The Mother Mold A.I. was designed by the combined industrial forces of Orchis as a countermeasure against mutants and their continued growth. While past projects like the Master Mold had ended in failure due to the lack of control over them, the Mother Mold was specifically designed to create and design Master Mold's itself, allowing the A.I to nurture their development and keep them under tight control at all points. The Mother Mold would basically function as the heart of Orchis Sentinel project, and was stated to be capable of designing Nimrod Sentinels if given time.

    Creation

Mother Mold was created by Jonathan Hickman and Pepe Larraz, first being mentioned in House of X #1.

    Major Story Arcs

    It Will Be Done

After being discovered by the investigation done by the likes of Mystique, the X-Men were able to find the source of where Mother Mold was supposed to be put online: The Orchis Forge, designed out of the remains of Sol's Hammer (a space station created as a back up to stop Incursions by destroying the planet before they smashed together with solar powered blasts) and was retrofitted with a Dyson Sphere and multiple Orchis buildings within the outside of the Sphere, with the computerised head of Mother being in the middle. Mother itself was attached to the space station with multiple control cables, which kept it trapped within the middle: in the event that Mother would malfunction and start to operate like Master Mold had done before, the cables would be released, causing the head to go into the sun itself.

This failsafe would be used by the X-Men taskforce to destroy Mother Mold before it could be fully operational. Despite major causalities on both sides caused by both Orchis members and Mother itself fighting back against the group, this would be successful, and the A.I. was destroyed while cursing both sides. As the data for Mother was lost and the Forge was destroyed, it seems unlikely that another will be created.

    Powers & Abilities

While immobile, the Mother Mold was capable of developing Master Mold models at a rapid pace when activated, essentially functioning as a huge factory for them. This also included multiple stations on the Orchis Forge itself, which were expansive enough to allow people to live on the space station without problems. The A.I. itself was highly intelligent, able to think critically about both mutants and their makers.

The Mother Mold had access to dozens of dozens of Sentinel drones, which were the main line of defence against invaders. These drones weren't fairly durable but were potent enough to keep the X-Men's Shi-Ar's spaceship occupied.

The Mother Mold also had access to Nano-Sentinels, and could use them to upgrade over time. This was apparently potent enough to bring about the rise of the Nimrod class Sentinel through modifications to the Master Molds being made, which was supposed to be a highly futuristic model from the far future, yet was going to be created shortly after the Mother Mold went online, showing how fast those Nano-Sentinels could potentially work.

While fairly defenceless, Mother could still control parts of the Orchis Forge, using them to either ensnare targets in tendrils, or by opening parts of the space station to the fearsome elements of space itself.
