Bio help thread

This is a thread for anyone who is struggling with their bio, as well as a place for helpful RPers to respond and offer advice and assistance. Whether you need help with broad concepts, fine-tuning specifics, or even just formatting, this is place to ask for help. Conversely, if anyone has tips and tactics for bio-making that they'd like to share, feel free to post them here; you don't have to wait for someone to ask.

The only real rule is please stay on task; there's plenty of other threads to mess around and chat in.

Speaking for myself, I never put my character profiles in my personal profile that you access through settings. Why? See those green words that say "Show Bio" to the far right of a posters name that is right by the time they last posted? We all know it shows the character profile. Unfortunately, everything looks like it's in bold text. And IMO, that looks like some terrible formatting because everything looks like it blends in!

So, I always use a blog post for my character profiles with a link to that profile where people normally put their character profiles. For me, it's cleaner, everything doesn't seem to blend in and it just looks nicer all around.

Surprised it wasn't made already.

Tip:

If you want a condensed, concise look for your bio and don't care about putting too many images, use the About Me. If you want more space to work with, especially when it comes to putting pictures in your bio, put it in the blog format instead. Just thought I should mention this.

When I create a new character, I try to imagine the personality I'm writing in at the time. Then I create a back story associated with my trope idea.

Hjelp! I'm stuck on the beginning portion and have I have is along the lines of 'he was born...'

what needs to go into a bio? As in what past events do i need to know?

There are over six years of events to go through lol and I don’t even remember them all even though I’ve been here for all of them. No one is going to be able to sit and explain all of that to you. Just gonna have to learn as you go.

As for the bio.

is no official template for you to use, but here are some things that people tend to place in them.

Name:

Alias:

Age:

Height:

Weight:

Eye color:

Hair color:

Bio: (Your characters bio. What's their life story? How did they get to where they are today? It can be as long or as short as you want.)

Power/Abilities: (List any superpowers and/or abilities your characters have. But put some detail in them. Can they fight h2h combat? What's their style? Are they acrobats? Do they know how to use a weapon? List it.)

Gadgets: (Does your character have equipment? A high tech suit? A sword? A motorcycle? Stink bombs? Whatever they got list it)
