most powerful water bender so far? (Avatar)

who do people think is the most powerful water bender thats been on the series so far?

here are some names off the top of my head:

Pakku

Katara

Amon

Tarrlok

Unalaq (no merge with vatu)

Korra (no avatar state)

Korra's dad

I personally think Katara in her prime (wtv age that would've been) is the strongest but then again that is just speculation

Katara - Water

Toph - Earth

Azula - Fire

Aang - Air

ghazan can give toph a run for her money IMO. we need to see him do more though

what's your basis that azula is stronger than ozai ?

We'll have to see with Ghazan, lava bending is pretty powerful, but metal bending invented by Toph when she was 12.

Azula wasn't more powerful in series, but she was definitely going to surpass Ozai in the future. Toph wasn't stronger than Bumi either, but she had far more potential.

I'm not sure about raw power but Katara is undoubtedly the most skilled..though Ming-Hua could give her a run for her money.

I'd put Bumi as a more powerful Earthbender than Toph, and Iroh as the most powerful firebender along with being the most skilled.

Azula would surpass Iroh in the future in my opinion. Assuming she regained her marbles.

Amon-water; not only could he blood bend but he could take powers away using it.

Toph-earth; not because of just metal bending but the way she earth bends. Her patience and vision allows her to strike critically.

Azula/ Iroh-fire; Azula had the potential but became crazy. Iroh because he has so much knowledge and appreciation for other elements.

well since zuko is still around we might be able to see an upgrade to the power level of the current benders. I believe it is generally accepted previously that the bending in legend of korra is not as powerful as with last air bender.

Yeah, it's Republic City's pro bending, more streamlined, it's more suited to sport than battle.

Hopefully as they venture into the more traditional ways of the 4 nations, we'll see some raw power again.

I do and continue to believe that Amon was the most powerful waterbender in the Avatar series to date. Nobody could touch him, not even the Avatar (except when the plot gave Korra surprise airbending and junk).

I would say pakku is the most powerful bender the show has ever seen. As far as raw power no bender has come close except katara im sure katara surpassed him but we dont know that for sure. Amon has incredibly advanced techniques but I didnt get the idea he would beat katara or pakku in a water bending duel

Water- Amon (Prodigy, special bloodbending, amazing fighter and can dodge lightning)

Earth- Ghazan/Bumi/Toph (Take your pick)

Fire- Ozai/Iroh with Azula most likely surpassing in raw power with age

Air- Aang/Zaheer (Going on a limb since Zaheer has a very aggressive style for air bending while Aang is more traditional).

Water- Amon.

Earth- King Bumi.

Fire- P'li or Combustion man. For pure firebending then Ozai or Iroh.

Air- Aang, but if Zaheer had more time he might surpass.

For most naturally gifted:

Water- Katara

Fire- Azula

Earth- Toph

Air- Zaheer

I'd say Amon is the most "natually gifted", since he literally inherited his unique bloodbending.

@wf_mxyzptlk: I believe that was more to do with how skilled he was. Katara always seemed so effortless. Even without that much training, she was a formidable water bender.

Nah. Katara has much better feats than everyone, Ming Hua's style is too deadly.

@anthp2000: Nah, Unalaq is better than Katara. Ming Hua can't handle Korra, Katara or Unalaqs power. She won't get close to a waterspout.

Unalaq has nothing to suggest he is better than Katara.
Sure, she can. In fact, she can absorb it and beat them all up. Being a psychic bender, Ming Hua is also extremely unpredictable. And she has a speed edge over every single bender but airbending Aang.
I've said it before. Ming does not need raw power, she's basically so unique that she just doesn't. Desna and Eska held a massive raw power advantage but her speed, agility and psychihc abilities gave her the win. Anyone but Katara would be treated the same way, just in longer fight.

And I'd CaV Ming Hua vs any of these people. In fact, I'd cav Ming Hua against an Avatar as well.

Not sure about strongest, but Ming Hua was my favorite.....

Amon had bloodbending in the most op way possible to even block chi points with his bending so he is precise, Tarlok also says he is the strongest bender he ever met
