Poll Does MCU Thanos have at least a continental level durability? (144 votes)
After he survived the first snap?
After he survived the first snap?
Once again throwing around that word continental like it’s a large mountain or something Thanos is not even city level
Base Thanos? You need to stop smoking that weed. Thanos with Full IG? Debatable coz the Power Stone could increase his durability, which is a very unlikely thing in the MCU.
The number given in screen (5,000+ megatons) would put him at just barely island level. There is a statement saying the snap has the power to light up a continent, but that could be taken as light up the cities within a continent, rather than literally blow it up.
@rbt: How is Surtur sub city level? And even if he was, he technically doesn’t scale above Thanos. He is only above Thanos due to his better feats, which are above city level. Even if you don’t count the destruction of Asgard, and say that was a chain reaction, he is still above city level. Even phase 2 Thor is scratching city level, and is at least town level.
I could see him in universe getting KO’ed by a building level attack depending on the film which is precisely why the mcu shouldn’t be used in battle scaling because the character anti feats and feats are so vastly different.
@jaakor: if only a human body didn't survive it
@DammeFavour: the energy released from bringing back half a universe was stated to release that much, iron Man died from killing a few hundred-thousand soldiers
What's your point?
@jaakor: its still supposedly continental, it was a statement made about the gauntlet at rest. Which clearly is wrong
@DammeFavour: still supposedly continental based on what? Your glorious opinion? The energy released completely fried hulk's arm DESPITE most of the energy being gamma, when iron Man used it for an infinitely less powerful feat, his body was intact. The Energy blowback was clearly different
Not to mention that the energy blowback from blowing up the stones nearly killed thanos, same guy who tanked the energy blowback from erasing half the universe
@spongegar: exactly lol
He is island level without the gaunlet he tanked a ship crashing to him, and he taking a huge object that is apart of the ship hy iron man. He fought both tony, thor, and captain america. Thor scales to sutur who destroyed asgard.
Um, no he doesn't? Lol. Full sized Surtur would just step on Thor.
And how does tanking a ship or a large object dropped by Iron Man make him island level?
Thanos never has to masturbate with all the wanking you fanboys do
@TheGrat1: Did Thanos snap his fingers? Yes or No?
@goldeneagle: How is he continental level when the snap is borderline island level?
@goldeneagle: Thor, Thanos and Hulk has never tanked anything close to island level or even mountain level so that feat is very questionable, he might he took just a small fraction of the energy disposal. Surtur in 4km size even died to island level attack, while he fodderized Hulk like an ant in his 800m size. 800m Surtur can be considered mountain level, how come Hulk was like nothing to him like he's town level?
Thanos 'tanked' the first snap? Thor scales to FP Surtur? Thanos is continental with lowball?
This sadly fits some of the comments on this thread:

Yes.
@TheGrat1: Exactly. Him doing that sent all that energy into his hand and arm. He survived that. I do not see how Superman has more damage output than that.
@hydratedfubuki6: Thanos took the biggest energy surge in the history of the universe to his arm. How is that not island level?

So Thanos is large star+ level now? Rocket just said it was a power surge of cosmically epic proportions, he said nothing about it being the greatest in the universe.
@goldeneagle: I said it's borderline island level, as displayed in the movie. If it's a feat then it's the isolated one since Thanos, Hulk and Thor have never come to reach anywhere close to level of that supposed feat.

What is "all that energy"? Would most of the energy not go to the trillions of people the snap is killing?
Nah. Even island level is incredibly shaky. 5000 megatons is a feat for the gauntlet's power output, not Thanos. Is there any evidence that the user is tanking all that energy?
Thanos is stronger than multi-city block level characters for sure. Maybe mountain level if you really stretch Thor's Sokovia feat despite the context of the Vibranium spire, and Thor only tanking the shockwave of the meteor exploding rather than the entire force that went into destroying it.
