Major Evan Lorne grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and he joined the United States Air Force right out of school. Lorne was a member of SG-11 under Colonel Martin Edwards. He showed SG-1 around on P3X-403 where a fellow team member had gone missing while setting up a naquadah mining operation.
On Atlantis he was given command of a team of his own. He discovered a dead Wraith on a planet that eventually led them to Aiden Ford who'd left Atlantis a couple of weeks earlier. Lorne was a valuable member of the Atlantis expedition from this mission on.
