Dead Dogs

Origin

Very little is known about the Dead Dogs. A crew of subway pirates, they at some point they captured their own train, the President Clinton, and coalesced under the leadership of the pirate captain No-Beard. The Dead Dogs haunted the subway tunnels below New York, leading occasional raids on subway platforms, and waging bloody feuds against the other pirate crews.

Creation

The Dead Dogs were created by Grant Morrison and Cameron Stewart. They made their first appearance in Seven Soldiers: Guardian #1.

Major Story Arcs

Seven Soldiers of Victory

Lead by No-Beard, the Dead Dogs attack Eight Street Station to recover the pirate Soapy, on whose back is a map of New York's secret subway system, a map which leads to a treasure that will crown its holder king of the under-pirates. They take the map and flee ahead of the arrival of the Sun Lubbers. Later, they encounter the Guardian in the tunnels, and take him on in their pursuit of the Sun Lubbers, who kidnapped Guardian's girlfriend and are attempting to locate the fabled treasure, the Foundation Stone, ahead of them. Catching up, they launch an attack on the Sun Lubbers, lead by the Guardian. During the fighting and the subsequent crash of both pirate trains, almost all of the pirates die.
