The origin of Atlantis and Earth's unification.
Continuing after the events of Aquaman Futures End, the only way for peace to be made between Aquaman and his people is to kill the Dead King, with a little help from The Others. So, as this is just the issue that focuses on fighting between Aquaman and the Dead King, it only builds on the previous prejudice and tension from the last issue so no time was wasted on starting the story and wrapping it up. Which worked surprisingly well for this issue's story, even though it was predictable.
Prior reading knowledge would consist of Aquaman Futures End #1 and knowledge about Aquaman and The Others. (Which is an ongoing title.) Both are key in understanding what all is going on, especially knowledge about The Others. Writer Dan Jurgens wastes no time on explaining who The Others are and why they are helping Aquaman. Jurgens comes to writing this issue as if the reader is already reading both the Aquaman and the Others books. Which again works well for this issue. Since this story is only giving a slice of what Aquaman does in the Futures End series, no time should be wasted on adding information that can easily be found out in the current ongoing series.
In conclusion, this was [again] nothing memorable, but it was a good story. It was predictable, but you'll be given enough reasons to read both this issue and the last one, as there is a decent amount of new information about Aquaman in the Futures End world. 3 out of 5.
