First Look: 5-Page Preview of 'SHADE' #1

He's debonair, charming and he's back on October 12th in his very own series.

Just as September was the month of 52 new ongoing releases at DC Comics, October looks to be the month of new mini-series releases. This week we saw the release of the Huntress, and we reviewed it for you here. But Huntress won't be the only new release we'll be seeing from DC this month; next week we'll see the release of one of our most anticipated titles: the first issue of James Robinson's Shade series. A few weeks ago we caught our first glimpse at Cully Hamner's 'Shade' #1 variant cover, and now today we'll get our very first look at what we can expect to find inside.

Earlier today DC Comics revealed a first look at the upcoming 'Shade' 12-issue mini series with a 5-page preview of the first issue which is due to hit stores on Wednesday, October 12th. The preview implies that the series will be telling the story of the Shade's origin, something that has never really been explored in comics. The character is certainly debonair and oozes charm, from what we can tell in these first few pages, and we couldn't think of a better writer to tell this particular story.

This issue will be the first in a series of twelve in total, and the book will feature a varety of different artists including Cully Hamner who worked with Robinson on the original Starman series, Darwyn Cooke, Jill Thompson, Javier Pulido, Frazer Irving and Gene Ha. It seems as far as artists go, Robinson got the pick of the litter! The story will document the Shade's origin and will be set in "different parts of the DC Universe and all over the world." Check out the first five pages of the issue below and let us know if you think the Shade #1 will be on your pull list.
