Awesome Toy Picks: Star-Lord Sixth Scale Figure from Hot Toys

A cool collectible you'll want to add to your collection.

Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. We just looked at a LEGO set the other day but we couldn't wait to open up the Star-Lord Sixth Scale figure from Hot Toys.

I immediately fell in love with the box. Something about the purple and yellow. This figure is available through Sideshow Collectibles. It's available for pre-order and will ship this month.

As you would expect, this is a gorgeous figure. They have captured Chris Pratt's likeness.

Besides the detail in the face, everything about this figure simply looks great. The jacket looks and feels real. These pics just might not do it 100% justice.

Like other Hot Toys figures, he comes with different hands and accessories. He has certain orb he was looking for as well as his guns.

The coat is beaten, frayed, and stitched up. His pants, boots, belt, ...they all go together perfectly.

As for the orb, there is two versions--the contained one and what was inside.

This figure only has five hands. There's one to hold the orb, two fists, and two hands to hold his pistols.

There is a second masked head you can easily swap out.

Another thing that makes this figure really cool is there is an LED light in the mask.

It might show up better in the video at the top of the page.

The detail on the clothing never stops. You can even zip up his jacket. The zipper might be small but it actually works.

You have to remove his belt and holsters (they come off easily). Once you zip up the jacket, there's tiny magnets that help to keep the jacket closed for another display look. And again, look at the difference between the mask LED on and off.

The figure also comes with some handcuffs. He is a legendary outlaw after all.

His guns easily fit into this leg holsters. You'll have to decide if you want him holding them or wearing them at his sides.

He has a sling pack that snaps on. This was the only part that gave me a hard time as part of it came undone while trying to put it back on.

The stand is different from the typical plain black stand. It actually looks like part of a ship deck or something. He can easily stand with the stand but if you're going to have him on display, you won't want the figure to fall over.

Of course he comes with a walkman. There's also a certain Awesome Mix tape inside.

The walkman slides right on his belt and he's ready for a dance off.

This is a very impressive figure. The figure also comes with a bag of extra studs. Some of them might pop off his jacket if you handle him too roughly. It's good that you have the option to easily replace them and not have to worry about compromising the look of your figure.

As mentioned, you can pre-order the figure right now. You can also check out the rest of the specs and dimensions.

The figure looks amazing and sells for $234.99. Yes, that might seem like a lot but the figures from Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles are for serious collectors. They don't skimp on the details. This isn't your typical action figure. You can even set up a payment plan if you need to.

Thanks to Sideshow Collectibles for letting us get our hands on this figure early. Be sure to check out the video at the top of the page as well for more of a look. Let us know what you think of Star-Lord.
